GREETINGS FROM THE ORGANISING COMMITTEE

The Organising Committee of the International Canoe Sprint Regatta is honoured to welcome your team and your athletes to Auronzo di Cadore, located in the spectacular Bellunese Dolomites.

The Lake of Santa Caterina was the stage for the 2018 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships and will host the ICF 2023 Junior and U23 World Championships.

From 2020 to today, the preparation works of the competition area and the 2023 World Championships have been severely slowed down by the Covid-19 Pandemic. The 2022 edition of the international race will be used to carry out the first Test Event in order to arrive on time for the 2023 World event.

With the 2022 international competition we would like to welcome many of the athletes who will be key players in 2023 but we would also like to provide the opportunity for many young athletes to experience the atmosphere of a world championship event, especially for those boys and girls who unfortunately may not be summoned or have such an opportunity.

Luciano Buonfiglio

Greetings from the FICK President Luciano Buonfiglio

We are extremely happy to welcome you to the splendid setting of Auronzo di Cadore, which once again confirms itself as a location of the highest level.  In recent years, the lake of Santa Caterina has been the scene of many successful international events: the specificity of the competition field, the infrastructures, the excellent location that makes the stay of the athletes comfortable, make this event an always eagerly awaited and very much appreciated appointment. In particular, this race will be a very important test for the 2023 World Junior and Under 23 Championships.

My congratulations to the Organising Committee which once again has shown great ability and dedication, organising an event that will be very successful as always. A special thanks goes to the city of Auronzo di Cadore and its citizens who have passionately adopted the sport of canoeing.

Greetings from the Mayor of Auronzo di Cadore Tatiana Pais Becher

It is a great source of pride for the City Council and for the entire community of Auronzo di Cadore to be able to host once again the International Canoe Sprint Regatta, a prestigious event that will allow us to test the location for the ICF 2023 Canoe Sprint Junior and U23 World Championships.

An important event in which the waters of Lake Santa Caterina, together with the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, symbol of the Dolomites and a UNESCO World Heritage site, are once again featured in a unique and extraordinary opening to Auronzo’s summer season.

Auronzo is the town of the 3 lakes, Santa Caterina, Antorno and Misurina, and has been hosting the canoe competitions for more than 40 years, becoming a real tradition looked forward to by all the population.

I’m particularly honoured to welcome athletes from all over the world in this particular historic moment, when sport assumes a significant role in uniting people from different countries and in conveying a message of friendship and Peace surrounded by the unique Dolomites environment. What has been done in our town testifies to the importance of the synergy among sport, tourism and territory.

Thanks so much to all those who believed in the potential of Santa Caterina lake as the ideal location for canoe competitions, reaching the World Championship goal: thanks to the Italian Canoe Federation and its President Luciano Buonfiglio, to Venice Canoe & Dragon Boat and to Andrea Bedin and Maria Balanos, and to Auronzo Canoe and Kayak association.

I wish all participants a pleasant stay in our town and all the very best of luck in all of the competitions.
